International Teacher Recruitment Campaign

Tom and Sarah have provided an encouraging update on the international teacher recruitment campaign.

They have successfully conducted meetings in London, Manchester, Dublin, and Belfast, attracting genuine interest from 15-20 teachers.

Their next stop is Dubai, where they will engage with additional candidates tomorrow, 25 May. They are scheduled to return to the office on 29 May.

National Reconciliation Week Morning Tea - RSVP TODAY

National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. This year’s theme reminds all Australians that Now More Than Ever, the work of reconciliation continues. Whether through truth-telling, understanding our history, within education, or by challenging institutionalised inequity, we can be instrumental by being champions of reconciliation. There are many ways we can do this in our workplaces, communities, homes and social settings.

National Reconciliation Week Morning Tea
CEB staff members and visitors are invited to a morning tea to celebrate 2024 National Reconciliation Week. The Ballarat office will host theirs in the staff room on Friday 31 May at 11.00 am. Details of potential celebrations in other offices will be forwarded once organised.

For catering purposes, please RSVP Helen Christensen or Jeanette Morris by
4:00 pm TODAY, noting any dietary requirements.

National Reconciliation Week Resource Document
A resource document has been created for schools that may prove valuable in understanding the journey of reconciliation. Please join in local and state activities as this is a week for all Australians to celebrate!

Catholic Identity and Mission Update

Laudato Si’ Week  May 19 - 26

  • Response to the Cry of the Earth
  • Response to the Cry of the Poor
  • Ecological Economics
  • Adopting Sustainable Lifestyles
  • Ecological Education
  • Ecological Spirituality
  • Community Resilience and Empowerment

How can you help to plant seeds of hope in your community?

Together We Belong

This year during Laudato Si’ Week, Caritas Internationalis are calling everyone to act by engaging in Caritas International’s Together We: Tree of Life campaign action.

The Together We campaign invites us to connect with our local Members of Parliament on how together, we can care for our common home. In the spirit of fraternal cooperation, we want to encourage our politicians to commit to impactful climate action including:

  • committing $4 billion annually for global climate finance
  • $100 million to the Loss and Damage Fund
  • Advocating for the equitable phase out of coal, oil and gas through endorsing the call for a Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty

Action:
Having viewed the short video by Caritas Internationalis, Together We Belong, you are invited to add your own personal messages on a leaf and add your leaf to our DOBCEL staff ‘Tree of Life’, which will be located in the chapel, along with a basket of leaves and markers. For those who do not work from the Ballarat Office, or are travelling throughout the coming week, you are invited to send your messages via email, to spage@dobcel.catholic.edu.au and Sarah will record these on a leaf and add them to our tree on your behalf, alternatively, you may like to create your own ‘Tree of Life’ in your Zone Office.

You can share information about how your community is helping to plant seeds of hope and encourage politicians for any wonderful works you see them doing to care for creation. Share your tree on social media using #TogetherWeBelong, and don't forget to tag Caritas Australia, your local MP, @catholicearthcareaustralia and @iamcaritas
