Executive Director’s Update to Principals #117: COVID Update - 10 Nov 2021
God of deeper wells:
how marvellous to see
the blossoms, not just of this spring,
but those of seeds
planted years ago.
Friends have rung and reconnected
not just because there’s time,
but because friendship
and community have been revalued
in this economy.
We give you thanks
for experiences that were never
isolated, but shared, and which have grown through intervening years to silently provide an ecosystem in which to live,
fertile soil in which to thrive.
Amen.

COVID Update
Clarification relating to updated School Operations Guide
In seeking clarification to the issues, concerns and questions raised at this morning’s Leadership Gathering, CECV has advised that the School Operations Guide is being reviewed to provide more clarity in relation to visitors on school sites. They are seeking this from DET and DH. It will take some time for this to occur as there is a desire to avoid further confusion.
In the interim period we are advising schools to take the following approach for parents, guardians, and visitors:
If a parent, guardian, or visitor will be in close proximity to staff and students and/or on a school site for a period longer than just to drop off and pick up students, they are required to check-in with a QR Code and have their vaccination status verified.
All other requirements for visitors who attend within school buildings will apply. When the updated School Operations Guide becomes available we will circulate it.
Use of school facilities by outside groups
Outside organisations that use schools facilities are responsible for collecting, recording and retaining COVID vaccination status and using QR code check-ins.
Worksafe requirements
If an employee has attended a workplace within the relevant infectious period, a notification to Worksafe is required.
Mandatory vaccination recording
In line with our obligations to collect, record and hold vaccination information, all DOBCEL staff are required to enter their vaccination status into the PRS (CEVN) or eHR (ICON) by Monday 29 November, as circulated in Executive Director’s COVID Update #96 (14 October).

We will continue to monitor the situation and advise principals of any updates. Please liaise with the COVID Support team (see left hand column) or your Education Consultant with any questions or concerns.
Stay safe and continue to look after each other…
Every blessing.
