Executive Director’s Update to Principals #20 - 31 March 2022

  • Michael Kennedy – Announcement of Retirement

Michael Kennedy – Announcement of Retirement

Michael Kennedy, Principal of St Aloysius Primary School in Redan, has formally advised me of his intention to retire at the conclusion of the 2022 school year. Michael’s contribution to Catholic Education spans an incredible 35 years, a period in which he has taught and led in several of our primary schools.

As Principal of St Aloysius for 6 years, and both St Michael’s Springbank and St Patrick’s Gordon jointly for 10 years, Michael has led teams of dedicated staff and been a role model for Catholic educators in the primary sector. Michael has been instrumental in the master planning of St Aloysius and the recent delivery of two major stages of this master plan. He has worked hard to develop and foster leaders from within his staff.  He has been a collaborative and valuable member of the Central Zone Catholic Principal’s Association and will be greatly missed by Principal colleagues.

Throughout his time as an educator, Michael has consistently developed strong and productive partnerships with all. He has always been a vibrant and energetic member of the school community and he will be missed by staff, students and parents.

Michael intends to embrace retirement with his wife, Susan and family.  We offer him our very best wishes for the years ahead and offer heartfelt thanks for all that he has given over such a lengthy career.

We will commence the process of appointing a new Principal for St Aloysius for 2023 in Term 2.
