Ben Shields – Announcement of Appointment

Ben Shields has been appointed as Principal of St Patrick’s Primary School, Ballarat. Ben will commence his new position at the beginning of the 2023 school year.

Ben is currently Principal of St Mary’s Primary School, Castlemaine and has held this position since 2020. Prior to this appointment, Ben was a staff member at St Michael’s Primary School, Daylesford (Deputy Principal from 2016 to 2019) and at All Saints Parish School, Portland.

Ben is regarded by his current community as a dedicated, kind and passionate leader who always has the learning of each student at the heart of his leadership.

With a commitment to his own learning journey, Ben has engaged in further study and has completed a Masters of Education (STEM) as well as professional learning in the areas of Leadership and the Science of Learning.

Ben is passionate about ensuring the right learning environment exists to enable learners to grow and develop in all facets of the curriculum. He is committed to quality teaching that makes a difference to outcomes for children and works to engage the wider community in order to support connections to explicit instruction.

Ben’s contribution to Catholic Education over many years is testament to his personal faith and his commitment to provide impactful learning opportunities for all children.

I offer my congratulations to Ben. I ask you to join me in wishing him all the best in his new role and welcome him to the St Patrick’s community.
