Executive Director’s Update to Principals #11 - 7 March 2023
Terry Brennan - Announcement of Resignation
I write to inform you that Mr Terry Brennan has tended his intention to resign as Principal of St Augustine’s Primary School due to personal health reasons. As you are aware, Terry had a medical episode at the end of the 2022 school year and has not been able to return to his duties as Principal. Terry continues to focus on his recovery and is working closely with his medical team to monitor his activities and treatment.
Terry has ministered in Catholic Education in the Archdiocese of Melbourne and the Diocese of Ballarat for over 33 years. During his time in the Ballarat Diocese, he has served the communities of St Thomas More School Alfredton and St Augustine’s Parish Primary School Creswick as an educator and leader.
Terry began his time in Principalship at St Augustine’s in 2011 and has been a compassionate and collegial contributor to the Diocesan Education community. As Principal, Terry led with a strong commitment to serving his community and has demonstrated a generous and caring nature. He always spoke passionately about the endeavours of Catholic Education and the responsibility he felt to support all involved in this work.
Our wider education community is grateful to Terry for his contribution and extends to him prayers and blessings for a continued recovery.
In order to support the transition to the next Principal of St Augustine’s Parish Primary School, consultation and advertising for a replacement will commence shortly. I am hoping the successful Principal will be available as soon as is practical for them.
I also continue to be grateful to Mr Shaun Mohr and Ms Bambi Afford for their generous and capable leadership at St Augustine’s and St Columba’s School Ballarat during this interim period.
I offer my appreciation and gratitude to Terry for his contribution to Catholic education and I ask you to join me in wishing Terry all the best as he concludes his time as an educator and leader in our Diocesan community.
