Executive Director’s Update to Principals #28 - 14 June 2023
New Principal Announcement
I write to inform you that Mr Michael Heenan has been appointed as Principal of St Augustine’s Parish Primary School, commencing in this role on Monday 19 June, 2023.
Michael has served the community of St Clement of Rome, Bulleen as Principal since 2011. During this time, he has worked collaboratively and effectively with staff to ensure consistent practices across the school in all areas. Michael has led St Clements to be a high performing school with students at the centre of every consideration and decision. Michael believes that building positive, trusting and respectful relationships is the key to working together with staff and families.
Michael is regarded as a professional and effective leader by his colleagues and a passionate, innovative and committed contributor to his education community. He, first and foremost, views himself as a teacher and is looking forward to working with staff and parents at St Augustine’s to support a flourishing, thriving learning community.
Prior to his appointment at St Clement of Rome, Michael held other leadership positions at Ivanhoe Grammar School and Mother of God Catholic Primary School, Ardeer.
Michael is committed to his ongoing learning journey and has engaged in further study and partnered with education professionals and universities in researching best practice in schools and in leadership in order to build teaching and learning practices.
Michael is also an active member of his parish community, taking a particular interest in liturgy and ministries related to the celebration of the Eucharist. His faith leadership is very evident in his conversations and his passion for Catholic education.
I also extend my sincere appreciation to Bambi Afford, Shaun Mohr and Sue Paulka for their generous and diligent leadership at St Augustine’s during terms 1 and 2 of this year.
I ask you to join me in wishing Michael all the best in his new role and welcoming him to the St Augustine’s and diocesan communities.
Tom Sexton
