Executive Director’s Update to Principals #46 - 10 October 2023
Hats Off to Teachers this World Teachers’ Day
World Teachers Day falls on 27 October this year. The purpose of this day is to celebrate all teachers for their contribution to the education, inspiration and support they provide to our students. In the week leading up to World Teachers Day, DOBCEL hopes to feature daily posts showcasing message from our student and parent/caregiver community to express gratitude for the exceptional contribution of our teachers.
A draft School Newsletter insert is available below to invite your school community to recognise and celebrate the remarkable teachers in your school. The concept is for students and their families/caregivers to share a few heartfelt words about their teachers, a sentimental drawing and/or photos (with the parent/caregiver’s permission) to publish via the School and DOBCEL social media platforms.
You may also like to pick up on some of the ideas here to do at school such as:
- Providing students with the chance to create a thank you poster
- A staff photo opportunity using the ‘hat’s off to teacher’s” props
- Having students create a thank you card, or ‘thank you’ wall or other art project to say thanks to their teachers
If you do, we’d love for you to share this with us, so that DOBCEL can acknowledge and celebrate your educators as well. Content might be a snippet of writing a student completes about their teacher, a short video from a student or a class to their teacher or even a piece artwork that shows appreciation for a teacher. We ask that you encourage students to use creativity and imagination in celebrating their teachers!
Any content can be sent to Tania Lund - Staff Wellbeing and Engagement Advisor up to Friday 20 October.
Please ensure we have the relevant permissions (relating to names, images, video, social media and use by DOBCEL) to use any content provided by you.
To publicise this opportunity to the school community we would appreciate you adapting the communication below for your newsletter and social media streams.
World Teachers’ Day will be on Friday 27 October 2023. We invite our school community to recognise and celebrate our remarkable teachers for their contribution to educating, inspiring our kids and acknowledge the support they provide each day.
We’d love and invite our students in this celebration. Students are encouraged to share creative content, such as a snippet of writing, a short video or a piece of artwork or drawing. Let your creativity and imagination run wild! With relevant permissions in place, this content will be shared via our and the DOBCEL social media platforms. Please ensure all content is submitted no later than Friday 20 October.
For convenience, printable posters for our kids can be found below.
We look forward to celebrating World Teachers’ Day together and celebrating our dedicated teachers.
30+8 & TIL Forums (Primary Schools)
Further to discussions at the Week 8 online Diocesan Leadership Gathering, we are scheduling three online forums to bring together the Primary Principals of similar sized schools to discuss how they are managing the implementation of the 30 + 8 and Time in Lieu. Attendance is optional, however we are keen to hear and learn from your experiences. Maree Baker, Manager Human Resources, will be in attendance. A separate event for Secondary Principals will be organised via your Education Consultant, Tim O'Farrell.
Please register your attendance below at the session that best suits your school size.
