Announcement of Appointment - St Mary's Primary School, Clarkes Hill
I write to inform you that Clare Scanlon has been appointed as Principal of St Mary’s Primary School, Clarkes Hill. Clare will commence this position at the beginning of Term 1, 2024.
Clare has served the community of St Brendan’s Primary School, Dunnstown as a classroom teacher since 2021. She is regarded as a compassionate, professional and effective educator by her colleagues and members of the school community.
Prior to her appointment at St Brendan’s, Clare served our diocesan community at Lumen Christi Primary School, Delacombe and Our Lady Help of Christians School, Wendouree. Clare spent a considerable number of years working in schools in the Kimberley, Western Australia including Principal at Warlawurru Catholic School, Lunja Community, Red Hill, Halls Creek.
Clare is committed to her ongoing learning journey with further study successfully completed with a Master of Education – Leadership and Management.
Clare demonstrates a strong personal faith which strongly influences her ‘way of being’ and decision making. She passionately works for inclusive practices and is active in ensuring that all are considered when making decisions and implementing initiatives. She is highly regarded in her school community for the relationships she develops with staff, students and families and is known for her generosity, compassion and genuine kindness.
These traits are also evident in Clare’s teaching as she brings a strong knowledge of each student and works to engage them in their learning journey. She is a highly collaborative team member and has been a valued contributor to the shared leadership structure currently in place at St Brendan’s.
As Executive Director of Catholic Education Ballarat, I offer my congratulations to Clare on her appointment to Principal of St Mary’s Primary School.
I also extend my appreciation to Inez French for her generous and courageous leadership at St Mary’s and St Brendan’s since 2020. Our diocesan education community looks forward to appropriately thanking and farewelling Inez in the coming weeks.
