Dear Principals,
Some schools have received an invoice by email from Hodkinson Global (Hodkinson), which describes itself as an “academic literature organisation”. The invoice does not state the purpose or reason for payment and may request that the school sign a confidentiality agreement for further information. Hodkinson may also have sent a follow up email regarding payment of the outstanding invoice.
The Copyright Advisory Unit for the schools’ sector has met with Hodkinson and are currently in discussions with Hodkinson on these matters.
In the interim, please refrain from paying these invoices or engaging with Hodkinson until these discussions have been finalised. Any invoices received by your school from Hodkinson Global should be forwarded to the Copyright Advisory Unit at smartcopying@det.nsw.edu.au, and they will advise you on next steps.
