Please find below information and key updates to assist with employment related matters.
Planning for Time in Lieu 2025
- It is advised that planning for the number of TIL hours needed for the 2025 school year and how they will be allocated should be underway.
- This will ensure the equitable assigning of tasks and duties to teachers (and any other relevant staff if applicable) as well as ensure all TIL is documented and communicated in a timely manner.
- This annual planning should be conducted in accordance with each school’s regular procedures and in consultation with the Consultative Committee.

Position Allowance
- Under clause 51.5 of the CEMEA, 2022 certain categories of employees will be entitled to receive a lump sum of 1% of their total salary as of December 1, 2024.

January 2025 1% General Increase
- A 1% increase will apply to employees covered by the CEMEA 2022, date effective from Full Pay Period on or after 1 January 2025.
As this is a busy time for payroll processing updates and other pay related matters in readiness for both end of term and 2025, I would like to take this time to acknowledge and thank them for their efforts.
Casual Employment and External Labour Guide
- Important changes to employment for both casuals and independent contracts came into effect from 26 August 2024.
- This places obligations on the employer to be aware of these changes and manage the work relationship appropriately
- It is important to ensure it is done correctly to avoid complications or errors.

Music Tutors/Sports Coach Information Sheets
- To assist schools understand and navigate how to engage these work types, the Employee Relations team have created some detailed information sheets.

Catholic Dialogue Schools Consortium
How can the Catholic Dialogue School promote genuine dialogue? What is the impact of Relativism and the Colourful School on the schools across our diocese?
These are questions of the moment for our diocesan schools. We have this shrinking window in time to capture the religious imaginations of our learners – young and older.
With this purpose in mind please take up our invitation to hear Professor Didier Pollefeyt and Drs Jan Bouwens in Bendigo or online on Feb 24th and 25th 2025.
Given the business of that February week, please register your interest in attending online at least, via the attached flyer. It’s not a contract – only an expression of interest and we need your engagement with this learning.
It contributes another vital building block in understanding Catholic Identity for our current context.
