Death of Gerald Ridsdale

Dear Principals,

You will have seen in the news today that former diocesan priest and convicted paedophile Gerald Ridsdale has died.

I ask you to please be mindful of the potential impact of this news on members of your school communities, and reach out to me and/or the usual DOBCEL support services and networks if/as necessary.

Our thoughts and prayers are today with the survivors, their loved ones, and those in the community impacted by this man’s heinous crimes.

We cannot change the past, but I know we share a deep resolve, and I am grateful for the work we have done, and continue to do as DOBCEL schools, to ensure the safety of children in our care.
