Urgent Reminder: Potential Scam Targeting Schools

One of our schools recently received a call from an unknown person claiming to be from the ATO, requesting ABN and other details. While the legitimacy of this call is still under investigation, it serves as a timely reminder to withhold all private, banking, or ATO-related information from any unknown or unverified numbers.

This message is being shared in case this is part of a targeted scam against our schools. Please remain cautious and do not share passwords, ABN, banking details, or any confidential information over the phone with unverified callers.

If you receive a suspicious call or are unsure about a request, contact the DOBCEL office. Matt, Dean, Jordan, or Paul are available for any finance-related concerns, and the DOBCEL IT helpdesk can assist with password or email security queries.

Thank you for your continued diligence.

DOBCEL Primary School Employee Voice to Help Shape the Next Enterprise Agreement

Following on from our discussion at the Diocesan Leadership Gathering in Horsham last week, we want to hear from school-based employees as we move towards the preparation for shaping the next Agreement.

Yesterday we included details for these opt-in sessions via the DOBCEL Weekly Newsletter.  Please assist to promote this to you staff. All DOBCEL primary school staff are invited to a short online session (30–40 mins) to:

  • Hear an update on the consultation process,
  • Have an opportunity to discuss key priorities with colleagues, and
  • Nominate your personal top 3 priorities via a quick poll.

These optional sessions are grouped by role/job type. Your insights will directly inform DOBCEL’s bargaining approach.

There is no need to register staff can simply click the MS Teams link for their preferred session.

We’ve scheduled sessions at both morning and afternoon times to ensure a fair balance, allowing some participation during work hours and some in their own time, while also minimising disruption to learning, supervision and school operations.

Attendance is optional and does not attract TIL if outside normal work hours.

These sessions are for DOBCEL primary school staff only. Secondary staff should speak with their school leadership about sessions relevant to them. CEB staff will also be provided with an opportunity as a staff group.

Official Portrait of Pope Leo XIV

The Vatican has released the official institutional portrait of Pope Leo XIV.

Bishop Paul invites every Catholic school to honour our shared faith by placing a photo of the Pope in a prominent place - a reminder that we are part of a global Catholic family.

Click here to download the portrait. The portrait is not intended for news use, but rather printing, framing and placing on walls in Catholic churches, agencies and facilities.

With best wishes,

Tom Sexton
Executive Director
