Network Upgrade Coming to Your School
Your school’s internet is being upgraded to a faster, more reliable service as part of a major enhancement to our network infrastructure, delivered by DOBCEL and VCEA in partnership with Orro Group.
What’s happening:
Most schools will receive upgraded fibre services, including a new NBN connection.
This will improve internet speed, stability, and overall performance.
Some schools may also need a firewall upgrade—those schools will be notified directly.
What to expect:
Technicians (from Telstra and NBN, via Orro Group) will contact your school directly to schedule access.
Work may take place over multiple days but should not interrupt phone or existing internet services.
Most installations will use existing Telstra infrastructure, so excavation is unlikely.
All technicians have WWC checks, police checks, and have completed required inductions.
There may be a brief (5–10 minute) outage during the switch to the new service.
Ongoing communication:
The DOBCEL ICT Team will keep you updated by email with key dates, technician visits, and any expected disruptions. All work will be scheduled in consultation with your school.
We look forward to delivering a faster, more resilient internet experience for your staff and students.

Meet Our Nexus Implementation Partner: Reflex Technology Group
We’re pleased to introduce Reflex Technology Group (RTG) as our implementation partner for the Nexus program. With a strong track record of delivering technology solutions that improve school outcomes, RTG brings both experience and insight to this transformative project.
Nexus is a major initiative designed to unify key operational platforms across our schools. At its core, the project focuses on aligning technology with educational needs—enhancing efficiency, reducing duplication, and providing a more seamless experience for school staff and administrators.
RTG’s Role
RTG plays a central role in delivering Nexus. They are responsible for coordinating with DOBCEL teams and our technology partners—Aurion, Professional Advantage, and PageUp—to ensure each system is implemented in a way that reflects the real-world needs of our schools.
This includes:
- Scoping and designing solutions based on user requirements
- Facilitating collaboration across multiple stakeholders
- Anticipating and addressing integration challenges early
- Ensuring systems are reliable, intuitive, and ready for launch
With RTG’s support, Nexus is well-positioned to deliver long-term value across our network. Their commitment to collaboration and a people-first approach ensures that technology will enhance—not complicate—everyday work in our schools.
For more updates on Nexus and its rollout, stay tuned for future communications.
With best wishes,
Tom Sexton
