New! Weekly CEB Staff Shout Outs
We’re excited to launch a new CEB Staff Shout Out section in the weekly staff newsletter! Starting next week, we’ll be celebrating the great work, generosity, and collaborative spirit happening across our diocese.
Much like our "Catholic Schools in Action" section, this new feature will shine a light on the inspiring contributions that reflect our commitment to building a High Performing System of Catholic Schools.
This initiative supports our commitment to Catholic Identity, particularly Element B: "Everyone feels safe, valued, respected, and their wellbeing and health enhanced as foundations of productive learning and teaching." It also aligns closely with our DOBCEL Strategy 2035, with many shout outs naturally reflecting our pillars of Collaborative Cultures and Engagement and Belonging - though all five strategic pillars are welcome to be recognised.
In case you need a little memory jog (we’ve all been there!), here’s a quick recap of our five Strategic Pillars:
- Collaborative Cultures
- Engagement and Belonging
- School as Community
- Rich Pedagogical Practices for Deeper Learning and Wellbeing
- Sustainable Stewardship
If you’d like to nominate a colleague (or team!) for a shout out, please ensure the relevant information is submitted by the usual newsletter deadline: Midday Friday each week. This is a wonderful way for us to acknowledge and share the positive impact being made across our schools and offices - big or small.
Let’s celebrate each other!

Reminder – Staff Drinks Tonight at the Western Hotel!
Dear colleagues,
Just a quick reminder that our staff drinks are happening tonight, Friday 13 June from 4.45pm at the Western Hotel, 1221 Sturt St.
It’s a great chance to catch up socially – feel free to bring a friend or family member, pop in for a quick hello, or stay for a while. We understand that not all CEB staff are in Ballarat, so you might like to connect with your local colleagues at a venue nearby.
There’s no pressure – just an open invitation to grab a drink and enjoy some casual conversation.
Looking forward to seeing you there!

Archiving of DOBCEL Documents and Records
Legislatively and historically, there are a range of documents and records that DOBCEL is required to archive. CEB has engaged the company Smart Stack to catalogue and archive these in our Archive system located in the Ballarat office.
If you have any relevant documents/records that require archiving, please ensure that they are appropriately boxed, labelled and delivered to the Ballarat office no later than Friday 1 August 2025.
The process for determining the archiving will be guided by the Australian Society of Archivists Records for Retention and Disposal.
If you have any queries, please contact Tina Munro.

People and Development Updates
6-Month Self-Reflections Now Open!
The 6-month self-reflection process for the CEB office is now open. The self-reflection process aims to ensure an opportunity for conversation to affirm and reflect on your achievements to date in 2025 and provide space to discuss and capture any support or growth and development opportunities for delivering on the goals you set for 2025.
Each person received an email from Culture Amp (notifications@cultureamp.com) containing a link to complete the self-reflection. You can access your self-reflection via the email or by logging into your Culture Amp account. The link to the self-reflection is located on the home page.
Before completing your self-reflection, you should update the status of your goals. Once you’ve completed the self-reflection, submit it to your team leader; and expect to have a meeting to discuss your reflections.
6-month self-reflections and meetings should be completed by Friday, 17 July 2025.
Instructions for updating the status of goals and completing the self-reflection can be found here.
If you have any questions about Culture Amp please speak with Fiona Murphy or Emma Baldwin.

In collaboration with 4 Pilot schools, significant testing and training has been completed and we are ready for Go Live for these schools and CEB Office on Monday 16 June 2025.
Next Steps
As of Monday 16 June 2025, Emmaus Catholic Primary School, St Francis Xavier, Ballarat Primary School, St Augustine’s Primary School, Damascus College and CEB Office will be using this platform for their recruitment and onboarding needs.
The People and Development team will support the training and support of relevant CEB staff who need to access and use this platform for any upcoming new recruitment.
A roll out plan will follow in the coming weeks with the plans to have all DOBCEL schools using the platform over the next 12 months.
