Executive Director’s Update to Principals #103: COVID Update - 20 Oct 2021
God of those in plenty, God of those in want: this disease separates us one from another.
It also exposes an underlying division that has been there all along: the difference between the haves and the have-nots.
May the chasm finally close between those who will wait this pandemic out with stockpiles of reserves and the luxury of rest,
and those who have been waiting too long for a voice at the table, a seat at the banquet,
a prayer that isn’t filled with pleas.
Amen.
COVID Update
Today’s Victorian press conference
In today’s Victorian press conference, following Monday’s announcement about changes to isolation periods for primary non-household contacts, it was confirmed that anyone who will be on day 6 isolation tomorrow, is a primary close contact, is not living in the same household as a positive case, and is fully vaccinated, can get a COVID test tomorrow. If their test returns negative, they will be released from quarantine. Listen to the details here.
The full press conference is available here.
Updated CECV Protocols for Positive COVID Cases within Schools
To better support schools to manage COVID-19 cases, CECV has been working with the Department of Education and Training and the Department of Health (DH) to revise and streamline how COVID-19 cases will be managed in schools.
Please refer to the revised process and templates (Word), and the PCC spreadsheet template (Excel).
Reminder: School vaccination statistics survey due today
The DOBCEL Board and CECV require a snapshot of the vaccination status of its staff, so DOBCEL principals are asked to complete this short survey by today, COB Wednesday 20 October.
Thank you to those schools who have already responded.
Reminder: Principal vaccination forum
A forum will be held this Friday 22 October at 9am for principals who have been affected by staff declining to be vaccinated. The forum will be for approximately one hour and principals can join via this Zoom link. A recording will be circulated after the meeting.
Next COVID Update
We will continue to monitor the situation and advise principals of any updates. Please liaise with the COVID Support team (see left hand column) or your Education Consultant with any questions or concerns.
Stay safe and continue to look after each other…
Every blessing.

Deputy Director of Catholic Education (Interim)
