Executive Director’s Update to Principals #55 - 2 November 2022
MEA Update
In today’s upcoming newsletter to all staff, I have written an update on the enterprise bargaining. It is important that all DOBCEL staff have the opportunity to read this, and it would be appreciated if you could please bring it to their attention.
School Closure Days
As discussed at the Diocesan Leadership Gathering updated guidance for student-free days and school closure days are attached. For our primary schools, the same principle of 4 student free days apply, with scope for application for up to two additional days.
For DOBCEL secondary schools, please work with Tim O'Farrell regarding your planned student-free days and school closure days acknowledging existing calendar structures and submit these.
I ask that you please work with your Education Consultants if you have any questions and return the attached documentation by Friday, 18th of November to Sarah Johnson.
Staff Formation in Catholic Identity & Mission
Hard copies of some of the professional learning opportunities in Catholic Identity & Mission were distributed at last week’s meeting.
Please find an electronic copy via this link to support your planning of school closure days.
Anaphylaxis Anapen Trainers
At last week’s Diocesan Leadership Gathering, Anapen Trainers were distributed to support schools to familiarise staff with the Anapen adrenaline (epinephrine) autoinjector (one per primary and two per secondary school).
On 1 September 2021, the Anapen adrenaline (epinephrine) autoinjector was introduced into Australia for the treatment of Anaphylaxis. Schools need to use their Anapen Trainer as a training device for staff, alongside the Epipen adrenaline (epinephrine) autoinjector. Principals are reminded of the training compliance requirements required for Anaphylaxis management for students.
Senior Secondary Opportunity - Deloitte Cyber Academy launch
Launching in 2023 for current Victorian Year 12 students, Deloitte Cyber Academy is a blended work and study opportunity for eligible students interested in pursuing an industry-supported career specialising in cyber skills.
