CEB Staff Newsletter #2 - 3 February 2023
Condolences

Our thoughts and prayers are with the St Augustine PS, Maryborough community on the sudden passing of a parent on Monday in a car accident.
Notice of Powercor Maintenance.

Powercor have notified us of some maintenance required to the electricity meter at the Gillies Street office.
This is scheduled for inspection between 07:30am and 5:00pm on Monday 6th February.
Whilst our electricity supply will not be interrupted, they do require clear access to the meter and switchboard which is located at the driveway entry.
Can you please be extra careful when entering the car park on this day as there may be Powercor workers in the vicinity of this area.

Child Safety Information: DOBCEL Child Safety SharePoint

As highlighted within the Child Safety presentation, during the CEB Staff meeting 27 January, a DOBCEL Child Safe SharePoint has been created for CEB employees to access Child Safety information and resources including, the DOBCEL mandated Protecting Children- Mandatory Reporting and Other Obligations e-Learning module.
An additional resource which can be accessed via the SharePoint is the ‘CEB Staff Child Safe Standards Training’ which staff are encouraged to view to provide additional information about child safety obligations. The DOBCEL Child Safety SharePoint can be accessed here.
Protecting Children – Mandatory Reporting and Other Obligations e-Learning module.
Main Points
- Each year all DOBCEL staff are required to complete the ‘Protecting Children – Mandatory Reporting and Other Obligations’ eLearning module to ensure compliance with legislative responsibilities under the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 (Vic.) and Ministerial Order No. 1359: Child Safe Standards – Managing the Risk of Child Abuse in Schools and School Boarding premises.
- For details on how to create an account: ‘Protecting Children- Mandatory Reporting and other Obligations Online Training Account Creation Guide’.
- The training and online module usually take 45 – 60 minutes to complete
- Staff must provide evidence that they have completed training (e.g. a copy of their certificate) to Jacqui Righetti, Manager of Safeguarding and Standards safeguarding@dobcel.catholic.edu.au
Critical Dates
For staff who have never completed the training or completed it more than 12 months ago, it would be expected that this training would be completed by the end of Term 1, 2023
For staff who are new to CEB, however, have completed the training within the last 12 months elsewhere, please supply your certificate of completion to Jacqui Righetti, Manager of Safeguarding and Standards safeguarding@dobcel.catholic.edu.au
- Staff who have completed the training within the last year will receive a reminder email from DET MARAM approximately 11 months after their previous completion date. This will be sent to the email address provided at the time of training. Staff should complete their training as soon as possible after they receive this recompletion email.
Additional Information
- The module includes current Victorian legislative requirements associated with the PROTECT protocol Identifying and Responding to All Forms of Abuse in Victorian Schools.
CEB Staff Child Safe Standards Training
The recorded presentation is recommended viewing for all CEB staff to understand our obligations to protect all children, the Child Safe Standards and Ministerial Order 1359.
